Given the huge increase in liver problems seen in the NHS, there is an increasing body of junior medical staff who require accessible information on how to recognise, investigate and treat liver and biliary disorders.  The At a Glance series provides an ideal format for this information, as a resource which can bridge the gap between existing polar resources: gastroenterology texts and specialist Hepatology works. The Trainees Section of the British Society of Gastroenterology is keen to support the societys existing educational work, and boost the development opportunities available to its members.  To this end they were keen to team up to publish Hepatology at a Glance.  Application for authorship was open to all gastroenterology trainees in the UK.  Margaret and Deepak were selected by the Education Committee to work with senior author and Consultant Dr Alison Brind. Presented in the popular double-page spread format, and structured to suit the beginning student or newcomer to the specialty, Hepatology at a Glance begins by outlining the structure and function of the liver and biliary system. Building on basic science, the book provides an overview of clinical approaches to assist the clinical student or junior doctor on rotation, and then looks at specific details of the most commonly encountered Hepatology disorders.  Readers can then test their knowledge with common clinical scenarios which includes self-assessment questions and full explanations to answers.
