Do you know how many ways you receive messages every day? Do you even know how many messages you are probably exposed to every day? Over the years, the number of daily messages to which someone has exposure has generally been quoted as 2,000 to 3,000. A few years ago, Yankelovich Research was quoted by the New York Times with numbers ranging from 500 per day in the 1970s, compared with 5,000 today.1 These high numbers include everything someone may see, from television ads to labels on products in a store.
