The first edition provides a complete overview of the evaluation process, beginning with the evaluators relationship with his or her client; how to form an evaluation question; application of program theory and logic models; performing literature reviews; qualitative data collection; creating output and outcome measures; designing and conducting surveys; foundations of causation; quasi-experimental designs; data analysis; grant writing and the evaluators role. The revision is needed because the field of evaluation has advanced since the book was written (for example, contribution analyses are typically conducted now, whereas they were not when the first edition was written). Further, the field of evaluation in international organizations (e.g., UN, World Bank, etc.) has advanced since the first edition. This International context will be included in this new Second Edition.
