This text is intended for the group counseling, group therapy, or practice with group courses found in both graduate and undergraduate programs of counselor education, social work, psychology, and human services. This course can also be found in continuing education programs across the country. In counselor education, this is a required course for all students. Social work programs also require a group counseling course for both undergraduate and graduate course work. The course gives students an overview and foundation for group work, including introductory concepts and basic issues, group stages, information on specific groups, as well as specific practice-oriented strategies.
